Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in the Developmental Risk and Resilience Unit in the Research Department of Clinical Educational and Health Psychology at UCL ( http://www.ucl.ac.uk/clinical-psychology/Research-Groups/DVR/index.htm ).
The position is 2 days/week fixed-term contract for one year, working on an ESRC Research Grant: ôRisk, Resilience and Affective Processing in Childhood" held by Dr Eamon McCrory with Dr Essi Viding as a collaborator. The postholder will be liaising with Islington Social Services and responsible for the recruitment of children and adolescents who have experienced early adversity and maltreatment. In addition, the postholder will also be liaising with Primary Schools in Islington for the recruitment of children and adolescents with no known history of early adversity and maltreatment. This role will entail recruitment, testing child and adolescent participants with fMRI, help in the data analysis and preparation. The primary aim of the study is to identify neurocognitive aspects of resilience.
The ideal candidate will have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area (psychopathology or developmental psychology) including excellent organisational and communication skills.
The project is funded by the ESRC. Salary: Grade 6 spine point 24 ( £24,877 per annum plus London Allowance £2,649 per annum). The closing date for applications is Thursday 13 th August 12pm, 2009. Duties and Responsibilities
To lead the active recruitment of participants for the project consistent with the study objectives and timeline.
To liaise appropriately with external collaborating agencies and services, and provide help and assistance as required.
To help run experiments in consultation with the Principal Investigator and postdoctoral research associate. To record, help analyse and write up the results of experiments.
To score and enter data
To help conduct statistical analyses of data.
To undertake appropriate training as necessary in order to ensure safe MRI scanning and management of children while participating in the project.
To contribute to the induction and direction of other research staff and students as requested.
Responsible for ensuring that equipment is safe and maintained in working order.
